They usually start out determined to reach their goals but life eventually gets in the way and training falls to the wayside. The key to improvement is consistency. It’s the daily grind that will make you better and get to just a little bit closer to whatever it is that you are aiming for. Identify the things that are preventing you from exercising consistently. Is it lack of time, distance from the gym, frequent injuries, or lack of resources? Eliminate the barriers.
Let the Fitness Come to You
Even the most dedicated individuals can get they plan derailed. Often, it is their zeal that makes them vulnerable to the development of overuse injuries. Don’t stay out late at night when you know that you have to wake up early in the morning or you’ll end up feeling bad the next day.
Be Proactive with Injury Prevention
Since injuries are a big problem among active people, you need to be proactive in managing pain to cure them right away and prevent them from getting worse. Overuse injuries, by their nature, tend to build up gradually because of the stress placed on the body. When you push yourself beyond your limits without getting adequate rest day after day, the chances that one part of the system will break down increases. Treat Rest Days as Holy
Schedule a rest day each week so that your body can have ample time to recover from the exercises you did. For beginners, it is common to rest every other day. Train Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while resting on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and even Sundays. For slightly more advanced individuals, some of these rest days can be more active with light physical activities. Runners can cross-train during these days while going easy such as cycling or swimming. However, it would still be ideal to have at least one day off for complete rest.
Eat Well to Support Your Training
Exercise can tire you out but you still have a lot of work to finish the rest of the day. Make sure that you have the energy for these by eating enough. Get high-quality food as fuel for your body.
